Last Samurai, a film by Warner Bros Movie, Starring Tom
Cruise. The Last Samurai was filmed in Japan on Oct
2002, for a period of one week. Filming took place in
Shosha-zan Engyo-ji Temple in Hemeji-City, Chion-In
Temple in Kyoto and several other locations. The Last
Samurai is directed by Edward Zwick and is set in Japan
in the 1870's. The film portrays the period of Japan
when they enter the industrialized century, their
struggle to hold onto their traditional culture but
having to be forced to adopt the modern western period.
Tom Cruise plays an American military officer who goes
to Japan to train Japan's modern army. Tom Cruise is met
with many angry Samurai Warriors who find his presence
to be a threat to their way of life and the samurai
warrior code.
